When developing a project it is good to set a Budget Frame within which the children can work. It gives them the sense of working on a real project, thinking also about what and how they are going to use to stay in the budget.
In the final stage of the workshop series, a so called Open Lab is set up. Open Lab is a one month activity in which children meet weekly as a community and develop ideas brainstormed at the last workshop. Besides the support of the mentors, tools and materials in the maker space, children also got a budget of 50 eur in order to develop financial literacy. While handling the idea, they need to keep in mind that not endless resources are available and need to work inside the budget frame. Also in this way they are encourage to recycle or Doit themselves to save resources.
